It started with fabric — the story behind our silk cotton designs
Before the brand, before the first collection, before anything — there was cloth. The weight of it in your hands. The way a silk cotton blend drapes when you let it fall. The difference between fabric that flatters and fabric that fights you.
Nardia Robertson has known that difference since she was a girl. She learned to sew from her mother and grandmother — a quiet, unhurried education in craft, quality and the patience that real making requires. That inheritance is woven into every Caravan + Co piece.
A life made in cloth
Nardia spent a decade designing and developing costumes for the iconic Qantas campaign I Still Call Australia Home — one of the most recognisable and beloved pieces of Australian culture. She went on to create the costumes for a Sydney production of Madame Butterfly, one of opera's great works. These were not small commissions. They were exercises in precision, beauty and the understanding that clothing carries meaning far beyond its seams.
After years working in industry, she decided the time had come to build something of her own.
In 2017, Caravan + Co was born.
Why Caravan
A caravan moves. It gathers. It carries the best of everywhere it has been. That is precisely how Nardia approaches each collection — drawing on the textiles, prints and craftsmanship traditions she encounters in her travels, and distilling them into pieces that feel both worldly and completely wearable.
Caravan + Co is not a trend-driven label. It is a wardrobe philosophy. Pieces chosen with intention, made to last, designed for the woman who moves through the world with curiosity and dresses accordingly.
The fabric is everything
Every Caravan + Co piece begins with cloth. Nardia selects each fabric by hand — feeling for drape, weight and that particular quality that tells you a piece will be worn for years, not seasons.
Our signature silk cotton blend is the fabric she returns to every collection — nothing drapes quite like it; nothing sits on a figure quite the same way. Alongside it, we work with 100% luxury silk, cotton poplin, cotton voile and regenerated viscose georgette. All natural or responsibly made. All chosen because they move with a real figure rather than against it.
And then came HOLLSTAR
With the first Caravan + Co campaign came a realisation: the market lacked the kind of embellished leather accessories that could hold their own alongside our silk cottons and feminine prints. So we built them. HOLLSTAR was created to complement — to give a strong, considered edge to the softness of the clothing. Two labels. One vision.
